The Rotary Club of Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos, has renovated Ubahuekwem Community Primary School in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State and installed a functional borehole to improve the learning environment and provide access to clean water.
The President of the club, Chief Emeka Nsolibe, said this on Nov. 1, during the commissioning of the projects, emphasising the need to invest in children’s education and welfare.

Nsolibe said children deserved protection, care and adequate support to realise their potential, describing them as future leaders who should be given opportunities to succeed.
He noted that a conducive learning environment and access to essential educational facilities would promote academic performance and help steer children away from social vices and criminal activities.
According to him, children provided with the right educational support and opportunities could become professionals and responsible leaders who would contribute meaningfully to society.
The renovation of the school and installation of the borehole form part of the club’s contribution to community development, improved access to education and children’s welfare.
The projects are expected to improve learning conditions at the school and provide pupils and staff with access to a reliable source of water.
The community and other stakeholders expressed appreciation to the Rotary Club of VGC Lagos, particularly its President, Chief Emeka Nsolibe, for the intervention, describing it as a valuable contribution to improving educational facilities and the welfare of pupils in Ubahuekwem.
The intervention highlights the role of service organisations in supporting education and providing essential facilities in communities.
