The Anambra State Government has approved a fresh set of development initiatives targeting youth empowerment, urban renewal and improved road safety across the state.
The decisions were taken at the 17th meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) for 2026, held on November 2 at the Light House, Awka, in furtherance of the Solution 2.0 Agenda. The resolutions were subsequently made public in a press statement issued on November 3 and signed by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor.

Among the major decisions was the approval of the third phase of the 1Youth 2Skills entrepreneurship programme, with the Ministry of Youth Development expected to announce the application process and eligibility criteria.
The government disclosed that two batches of the programme had been completed, with more than 13,000 youths trained in 60 different skill areas, while over 5,000 beneficiaries had reportedly become millionaires.
In another major development, the Council approved the extension of the state’s urban regeneration programme to Upper Iweka, Onitsha, as part of efforts to improve the area’s physical appearance, functionality and public spaces.
The proposed redevelopment is expected to promote better land use and transform the area into a more organised urban environment, with a comprehensive master plan scheduled to be unveiled in due course.
Meanwhile, ANSEC has directed the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) to give owners of abandoned vehicles along roads across the state a one-month ultimatum to remove them.
The council warned that vehicles not removed within the stipulated period would be impounded, evacuated and scrapped as part of measures to eliminate road hazards, improve traffic movement and strengthen public safety.
Owners of abandoned vehicles have consequently been advised to comply with the directive within the one-month notice period to avoid losing their vehicles.
