PRESS RELEASE

The 17th Meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) for 2026 was held at the Light House, Awka, on Monday, November 2, 2026. The Council took far-reaching decisions as part of the Solution 2.0 Agenda.

1. ANSEC APPROVES 3RD BATCH OF 1YOUTH 2SKILLS

Council approved the commencement of the selection, placement and training of the 3rd Batch of the One Youth, Two Skills (1Youth 2Skills) entrepreneurship programme.

The Ministry of Youth Development will in due course announce details of eligibility criteria and application modalities.

It will be recalled that two batches of the programme have been completed, with over 13,000 Anambra youths trained, empowered and mentored in over 60 skill areas. Of this number, over 5,000 beneficiaries have become confirmed millionaires and are now training and empowering other youths as part of the programme’s pay-it-forward model.

The 1Youth 2Skills initiative remains a flagship youth empowerment programme of the Soludo administration aimed at creating a new tribe of skilled, productive and self-reliant youths.

2. UPPER IWEKA, ONITSHA TO BE REMODELLED AND REPURPOSED

Council also approved the extension of its urban regeneration programme to Upper Iweka, Onitsha – a major gateway into Anambra State.

The remodelling will fundamentally change the aesthetics, functionality and land use of the area, including parks and other public spaces, to reflect the administration’s vision of a livable and prosperous homeland.

A detailed master plan and design for the Upper Iweka regeneration project will be unveiled soon.

3. ONE-MONTH ULTIMATUM ON ABANDONED VEHICLES

Council further directed the Anambra Road Traffic Management Agency (ARTMA) to issue a one-month notice to owners of abandoned vehicles on roads across the state.

At the expiration of the notice, all such vehicles will be impounded, removed and scrapped by the government. This measure is necessary to remove hazards, ease traffic flow and enhance the safety and aesthetics of our roads.

Government therefore advises all owners of abandoned vehicles to remove them forthwith to avoid forfeiture.
