The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has commended a Good Samaritan for rescuing a 10-year-old boy who lost his way home after going out to play in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.
The boy, identified as Chinecherem Onuwasoanya, was rescued by operatives attached to Okpoko Police Division in the afternoon of November 1, after a concerned resident found him wandering around the area and brought him to the police station for assistance.

In a statement issued on November 1, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that preliminary interaction with the child revealed that he had gone out to play but subsequently lost his way and could not find his way back home or locate his family members.
The statement further revealed that the child identified Ebenebe in Anambra State as his hometown. The command has since commenced efforts to locate his parents or guardians and facilitate his safe reunion with his family.
CP Oji Ama commended the Good Samaritan for demonstrating concern and taking the initiative to ensure the child’s safety instead of leaving him unattended.
The commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in protecting children and other vulnerable members of society.
He advised parents and guardians to ensure adequate supervision of their children and adopt appropriate identification measures that would make it easier to trace them in cases of separation.
The police command appealed to members of the public with useful information that could assist in identifying or locating the boy’s parents or guardians to contact Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.
