The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) held their first joint mega stakeholders’ meeting to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection campaign for the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

The meeting, attended by some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party, was held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Awka on November 1, 2026.

Speaking at the meeting, Anambra State Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who is the State Coordinator of the President Tinubu Re-election Council, welcomed attendees. He said the coalition’s purpose was to work toward President Tinubu’s reelection in the January 16, 2027 general election so he could continue the work he had been doing.

“This coalition is to promote the progress, security, peace, unity, and growth of our country, Nigeria and Anambra State at large through the mandate of Mr President, and APGA has centrally adopted President Tinubu as its own presidential candidate. This is not the first time APGA has collaborated with the centre during presidential elections. In 2011, APGA adopted President Goodluck, and in 2015, APGA did the same thing.

“We should not succumb to isolation, for we are very consequential to the growth of Nigeria through the contributions our people, such as the likes of Prof. Chinua Achebe, Dr Alex Ekwueme, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, have made in various sectors. Our president is doing well, and we need this alliance with the centre to attract more road infrastructure, erosion control funds and development in our state,” he said.

Gov. Soludo urged attendees to take the campaign for the President’s reelection to their polling units, wards, and Local Government Areas, saying it was in the state’s best interest and for its future. He then inaugurated the Anambra State Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

For his part, APGA National Chairman Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa thanked everyone who attended the meeting. He said that APGA is committed to the assignment and would emerge victorious. “We are here in solidarity to organise the election of President Tinubu. APC is the biggest party in Africa, but APGA is the most organised. He praised the Governor’s outstanding leadership style and thanked him for agreeing to take on the task of Mr President’s reelection.

Anambra State APC Chairman Senator Emma Anosike thanked the Governor, the ward executive members, former party chairmen, and current APGA National Chairman for supporting and campaigning for the President. He said the collaboration would help Anambra become part of the centre. “The president has done a lot for us in road infrastructure, and we need to reelect him to office for a second tenure.

“A lot of us here will be contesting for different positions during this general election. I urge you to do your work, play your politics, show your capacity, but note that the principal aspect connecting us is to work for the reelection of Mr President,” he said.

Those present included Deputy Governor Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim; Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Somtoochukwu Udeze; APGA candidate for the Anambra North senatorial district, Senator Stella Oduah; APGA candidate for the Anambra East/West Federal Constituency, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe; and APC candidate for the Anambra Central senatorial district, Senator Uche Ekwunife.

Others included APC chieftain Chief Azuka Okwosa; State APGA Chairman Barr. Ifeatu Obi-Okoye; Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor; and APGA candidate for the Anambra Central senatorial district, Hon. Dozie Nwankwo, among others.
