The Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Oluchukwu Ilogbenu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to food security, agricultural development and sustainable livelihoods.

Ilogbenu gave the assurance on October 16, while commemorating the 2026 World Food Day, stressing that access to safe, nutritious and affordable food is essential to human dignity and community development.

The Mayor said that his administration, under the Idemili South Rising vision, would build on the agricultural achievements of the previous administration to promote food production and improve the welfare of residents.

He explained that the vision prioritises a future where households had access to adequate food, farmers received the support they needed, and youths explored opportunities in agriculture and agribusiness.

“Food security goes beyond having food on the table, as it also involves creating sustainable livelihoods, strengthening local production and building a resilient economy that benefits everyone”, he said.

Ilogbenu further stated that his administration would pursue practical agricultural initiatives in alignment with the Solution Agenda of Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to advance agricultural development in the state.

He emphasised that strengthening food production and supporting farmers were important steps towards improving livelihoods, expanding economic opportunities and promoting sustainable development across Idemili South.

The Mayor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to work towards a future where agriculture contributes meaningfully to grassroots development, declaring that Idemili South was rising in development and greatness.
