Workers across Anambra State have demonstrated a renewed commitment to duty, as punctuality and diligence begin to define the culture within the public service and beyond.
This positive shift, observed in recent weeks, reflects a growing awareness among workers of the importance of discipline, productivity, and accountability in driving development.
At various government offices and establishments, staff now resume work promptly, with many arriving well before official hours.
The once-common trend of lateness is gradually fading, replaced by a sense of responsibility and dedication to service delivery.
This transformation has been attributed to sustained sensitization, leadership example, and the enforcement of workplace standards.
Speaking on the development, a senior civil servant Mr. Godwin Akujieze, the Programme Manager Agricultural Development Programme ADP, Awka noted that workers are increasingly aligning with the vision of building a more efficient and responsive workforce.
According to him, punctuality not only enhances productivity but also improves public trust in government institutions. However, Mr. Akujieze attributed the improvement to Mr. Governor’s unscheduled visit which and the serious campaign and sensitization by the new Head of Service Ngozi Anuli Iwouno Esq.
Observers say the change is also evident in the improved turnaround time for official assignments and better coordination among departments. Citizens who visit public offices have equally expressed satisfaction with the new work ethic, noting quicker service and a more professional attitude from staff.
Some workers who spoke anonymously admitted that the shift did not happen overnight but was driven by the monitoring team and a personal resolve to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the state.
They emphasized that being punctual and diligent has improved their performance and overall job satisfaction.
The development is widely seen as a step in the right direction, as Anambra State continues to position itself as a hub of excellence and good governance.
Stakeholders have urged workers to sustain the momentum, stressing that consistency is key to long-term success.
As the culture of diligence takes root, many believe it will not only strengthen the public service but also inspire similar attitudes in the private sector, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic advancement of the state.
