Staff of the Anambra State Ministry of Housing have paid glowing tributes to the outgoing Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Pauly Onyeka, at a farewell and get-together ceremony held at the Jerome Udoji State Secretariat Complex in Awka.
The event, marked by a mix of emotions and nostalgia, brought together ministry staff who celebrated the achievements and leadership style of the former commissioner. Speakers at the colourful occasion expressed gratitude and praised Hon Onyeka for his cordial relationship with staff and his inclusive approach to administration during his tenure.
In his remarks, Onyeka urged staff to remain committed to hard work and unity, emphasizing the importance of putting God first in all endeavors.

He cautioned against envy in the workplace, noting that leadership positions come with time and patience.
“We should stay close to God in our pursuits so that our journey in life will be smooth. Let us uphold the virtues of our faith, avoid envy, and continue to work diligently. That is the secret of success,” he said.
The former commissioner attributed the successes recorded during his tenure to his open-door policy, which he said encouraged participation and allowed staff to contribute their strengths to the ministry’s progress.

Onyeka also expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for the opportunity to serve, pledging his continued support for his administration.
In a vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Obi Okonkwo, commended Onyeka’s generosity and leadership, describing his contributions as exceptional.
He prayed for greater accomplishments in his future endeavors.
Similarly, the Director of Building Construction and Maintenance, Builder Samuel Ojeleke, thanked Onyeka for creating opportunities within the ministry, including the establishment of departments that enabled staff advancement which elevated his to the position of a director.
Other speakers, including the Director of Architecture, Arc. Obiora Ilouno, and a Deputy Director in the Quantity Surveying Department Qs Eugene Onyenwe described Onyeka as a “rare gem” whose legacy should be emulated
The highlight of the event included presentation of cash awards to all the staff, refreshments, and group photographs with the outgoing commissioner.
