Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, is exploring a possible partnership with Chinese investors that could support the production and assembly of vehicles, motorcycles and tricycles within the university environment.
The proposal was presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Stanley Anyaehie, during a visit by a delegation of Chinese investors to the university on Sept. 30.
The proposed partnership would involve the Faculty of Engineering and other relevant units, with a focus on promoting local manufacturing, strengthening industry academia collaboration and improving access to locally assembled products.

Receiving the delegation, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the proposal, noting that the university was already exploring innovations in a similar direction.
He said consultations would be held to assess the feasibility, structure and possible areas of implementation of the proposed partnership.
Anyaehie said that, if realised, the initiative could strengthen the link between university research, engineering expertise and industry while creating opportunities for practical training, technology transfer and local manufacturing.
The proposed collaboration also has the potential to expose students to real world engineering processes, providing a platform for translating academic knowledge and research into practical solutions for transportation and manufacturing needs.
The initiative, if successfully developed, could further position UNIZIK as a stronger hub for engineering innovation and industry collaboration in Anambra State.
