The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has flagged off the distribution of learning materials, sports equipment and furniture to basic education schools across the state.
Speaking during the ceremony held at the ASUBEB headquarters in Awka, the Chairman of ASUBEB, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu described the exercise as more than a ceremonial event, noting that it reflects the government’s commitment to improving education and providing children with better learning opportunities.

Dr. Anyadiegwu commended the administration of Chukwuma Soludo for prioritizing education through investments in schools, strategic reforms and the establishment of smart schools aimed at producing globally competitive learners.
Addressing teachers and learners at the event, the UBEC State Coordinator, Mr. Kingsley Nlewedim said the distribution was made possible through the partnership between UBEC and ASUBEB.

He urged teachers and school administrators to make proper use of the items and ensure adequate maintenance for the benefit of learners.
Mr. Nlewedim encouraged pupils to remain dedicated to their studies and make good use of the opportunities provided by the intervention.

Also speaking, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Honourable Emmanuel Anayo Okpaleke adviced school administrators to ensure that the materials are effectively utilized by learners.
He disclosed that the committee would embark on monitoring visits to schools across the state to ensure that the distributed materials are properly used and maintained.
In a vote of thanks, the State Secretary of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Anambra State chapter, Mr. Joseph Ikpani expressed appreciation to the Anambra State Government, UBEC and ASUBEB for the intervention.
Mr. Ikpani assured that head teachers across the state would ensure the proper use and maintenance of the items distributed to schools.
Speaking on behalf of the learners, Master Chidubem Ekwunife expressed gratitude to the government and education stakeholders for the gesture and the opportunity provided to pupils in the state.
