The Anambra State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Okey Ezeobi has emphasized the importance of starting every work week with God through morning devotion.

Speaking during the ministry’s Monday morning devotion in Awka, Arc. Ezeobi reminded staff members that God directs the steps of His children, stressing that nothing meaningful can be achieved without divine guidance.

According to him, beginning the week with devotion helps workers to remain spiritually grounded and mentally prepared for their daily responsibilities.

“Starting your Monday with a morning devotion sets a positive and grounded tone for the week. It provides an opportunity to center your mind, find spiritual inspiration, and seek divine guidance before tackling your daily tasks,” the Commissioner said.

Arc. Ezeobi encouraged workers to live holy lives and cultivate the spirit of sacrifice and kindness toward others. To illustrate his message, he narrated the story of a woman caring for her critically ill husband who, despite her financial hardship, extended compassion and assistance to a homeless beggar.

Unknown to the woman, the beggar was a wealthy businessman testing humanity in search of someone worthy of help. Impressed by her kindness, the billionaire later sponsored her husband’s medical treatment and transformed the family’s financial condition.

Drawing inspiration from the Bible passages Galatians 6:9 and Hebrews 13:2, the Commissioner urged workers not to relent in doing good, assuring them that God rewards faithfulness and kindness in due season.

“You can help even when you are in need. God is looking out for people to use as vessels for those in need. Be kind and ask God to give you a kind heart. Many have entertained angels without knowing,” he said.

He cautioned staff against engaging in corrupt practices, noting that ill-gotten wealth would not bring lasting fulfillment.

“For those of us who work in the office, what will sustain you is not what you muscled out of the contractors’ pockets. God has an appointed time to reward your faithfulness, provided you remain steadfast,” he added.

The Commissioner adviced staff to continually seek God’s guidance in all their endeavors, assuring them that with divine intervention, their expectations would not be cut short.

The devotion ended with praises and worship, prayers, and offerings, leaving staff members with renewed hope and motivation for the week ahead.
