A joint technical inspection team from the Anambra State Ministry of Housing, the Bureau for Public Procurement, and the Project Evaluation and Monitoring Unit inspected the ongoing construction at General Hospital, Oroma-Etiti, in Anambra West LGA on Tuesday, May 13, 2026.
The visit is part of the state government’s initiative to strengthen healthcare delivery through the upgrading and construction of hospitals across the three senatorial zones under Governor Chukwuma Soludo. Several facilities, including hospitals in Amaku, Enugwu-Ukwu, Ekwulobia, Umueri, Fegge, Okpoko, Aguleri-Otu, and Oroma-Etiti, have either been completed or are nearing completion.
During the inspection, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, Engr. Obi Okonkwo, noted that some works carried out by the contractor were not included in the original Bill of Quantities. He advised that prior approval be obtained for any additional works, reiterating the ministry’s role as the supervising authority. He also requested the submission of layout plans for the building, fencing, and road network.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Projects, Prof. Ebuka Nwankwo, urged the contractor to complete the staff quarters behind the main hospital and commence fencing works immediately. He assured that variations on executed works would be considered after proper evaluation.
The team concluded the visit by measuring the proposed fencing dimensions. Officials present included Builder Samuel Ojeleke, Architect Obiora Ilouno, Quantity Surveyor Eugene Onyenwe, and other ministry personnel.
