The Anambra State House of Assembly, has confirmed the second batch of Commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, further strengthening the State Executive Council in line with the administration’s development agenda.
The confirmation took place during plenary today May 14 in Awka following the consideration and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Screening and Electoral Matters.
The confirmed nominees are Arc. Henry Arize as Commissioner for Housing and Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu as Commissioner for Commerce.
Presenting the committee’s report, the Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, stated that the nominees successfully scaled through the screening process and were found qualified to occupy the offices for which they were nominated.
Rt. Hon. Okoye explained that the committee carefully examined their academic credentials, professional backgrounds, competence, and suitability for public service, noting that both nominees met all constitutional and statutory requirements expected of public office holders.
Addressing the newly confirmed Commissioners, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, described their confirmation as a solemn call to service and responsibility to the people of Anambra State.
Speaker Udeze noted that Governor Soludo had entrusted them with critical responsibilities aimed at advancing the Solution Agenda and improving the welfare of Ndi Anambra, stressing that the people expected commitment, integrity, and impactful service from them.
He urged the Commissioners to remain focused, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the citizens, while ensuring that their conduct in office reflects the confidence reposed in them by both the Governor and the people of the state.
In a vote of thanks on behalf of the confirmed nominees, the Commissioner for Housing, Arc. Henry Arize, expressed appreciation to the House for the confidence shown in them through the confirmation process.
He assured the lawmakers and Ndi Anambra that they would discharge their responsibilities with diligence, dedication, and commitment towards the continued growth and development of the state.
