St. Matthias Catholic Parish, Agulu, was filled with joy as parishioners gathered in large numbers to welcome their new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bartholomew Onuora, in a colourful reception held at the parish on Oct 4.
Fr. Onuora, who hails from Aguluzigbo in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, was warmly received by the parish community. The reception was led by Rev. Fr. Henry Oduenyi, who thanked God for the occasion and appreciated the parishioners for turning out in large numbers to welcome the new priest.

The parish’s statutory groups, including the Catholic Men Organisation (CMO), Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) and Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), were present at the ceremony. Also in attendance was the Parish Pastoral Council, represented by its Vice Chairman, Chief Innocent Okafor-Okisi, alongside other parish leaders and faithful.
In his maiden address, Rev. Fr. Onuora expressed surprise and appreciation for the warm reception and overwhelming show of love. He urged parishioners to embrace forgiveness, let go of past grievances and return fully to the Church, declaring that a new era had begun in St. Matthias Parish.
The new Parish Priest prayed that God would use him as an instrument for winning more souls and leading the parish to greater spiritual growth. The highlight of the ceremony was the formal introduction of parish leaders and other members of the parish community.
