The re-elected Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Area(LGA), Hon. Chief Stanley Nkwoka (Ochendo Idemili), has pledged to deepen grassroots development across key sectors, including environmental sanitation, healthcare and security, as he begins his second term in office.
Nkwoka made the commitment during a reception held in his honour at the Local Government Secretariat, Ogidi, shortly after his inauguration on Oct. 3.

He said his administration, working with the Deputy Mayor, Chief D.A. Anagor, would focus on unity and practical development that directly improves the lives of residents.
“Two of us will be here to unite Idemili North. Anagor is a new face in the executive position of this LGA. Together, we shall work to improve other areas like environmental sanitation, the health sector and security,” Nkwoka said.

The mayor said the time for campaigning was over and that his administration was ready to translate its promises into action, noting that work on the next phase of his development agenda would commence immediately.
Nkwoka highlighted the support received by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the local government during the recent LGA election, describing the result as a significant milestone for the party in the area, saying the experience would motivate the administration to work harder for the people.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Nkwoka called on APGA supporters to support the party’s candidates, including Hon. Ikenna Iyiegbu (Onyechimereze), whom he identified as the party’s candidate for the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency. Iyiegbu has publicly pursued the APGA ticket for the constituency ahead of the 2027 election.
Iyiegbu, in his remarks, assured APGA supporters and residents of Idemili of his preparedness to contest the Federal House of Representatives election, urging them to support his candidacy.
Also speaking, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, described the recent local government election as evidence of strong support for APGA in the state, while commending Nkwoka and urging him to sustain his development efforts.
Mefor said the party would seek support for its candidates in the 2027 elections, while the political assertions remained the views expressed by the speakers at the event. The re election of Nkwoka and APGA’s performance in Idemili North have also been publicly discussed by the Anambra State Government.
The General Secretary of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council (ASTUC), Igwe Surv. Charles Agbala of Uke, and Igwe Godwin Odiegwu of Abacha, were among dignitaries who advised the mayor to remain committed to the administration’s development vision.
The Chairman of New Auto Spare Parts Market, Nkpor, Chief Stephen Ofoleh (Award), and President of Obosi Urban Landlords Association, Chief Emeka Asimone (Dikedioramma), commended Nkwoka’s first term performance and urged him to build on the progress recorded.
They cited improvements in market peace and security, environmental sanitation and waste management, encouraging the administration to reinvest locally generated revenue in further development of the markets and the wider local government.
Nkwoka’s second term pledge now places greater emphasis on converting the goodwill from his re election into visible improvements in services and infrastructure across Idemili North.
