The Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, has commended the Chaplain Corps Policing Explorers (CHAPOL) for its efforts in combating social vices among students in secondary schools across the state.
Mrs. Nnake gave the commendation on June 24 during a courtesy visit by members of the organization to her office, where she encouraged them to remain committed to their mission of mentoring young people and promoting positive values among students.

CHAPOL is a paramilitary non-governmental organization dedicated to addressing social challenges such as cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice and other forms of juvenile delinquency in secondary schools, focusing on character development through mentorship, counselling, training and educational programmes designed to guide students towards responsible and productive lives.
Speaking during the visit, the SSG described the corps’ mandate as both noble and timely, noting that its activities align with the vision of the Anambra State Government to build a safer and more responsible society by instilling positive values in young people and nurturing individuals who exemplify the ideals of a true Onye Anambra.

Mrs. Nnake observed that many societal crimes often originate from negative influences acquired during the formative years of secondary education, expressing confidence that initiatives such as CHAPOL would help address the problem at its roots, ultimately contributing to safer tertiary institutions and communities.
She assured the organization of the state’s support for programmes aimed at youth development, moral reorientation and crime prevention.
Earlier, the Anambra State Commandant of CHAPOL, Dr. Joseph N. Ekwunife, ACG, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to its mandate of shaping responsible and disciplined students for the development of a better Anambra State.
He highlighted the corps’ ongoing efforts in mentoring young people, promoting discipline, moral values, leadership skills and civic responsibility among students across the state.
Dr. Ekwunife appealed for increased collaboration and support from the Anambra State Government to enable the organization to expand its operations and achieve greater impact in its campaign against social vices in schools.
The visit ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to raising responsible, law-abiding and productive young citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of Anambra State.
