In a bid to restore stability and prosperity to Anambra’s markets, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s administration is set to conduct elections, marking a shift from caretaker committees to elected leadership.

Engineer Micheal Obiekwe, Permanent Secretary of the Anambra State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, disclosed this at a thanksgiving reception organized by the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA).

“The State is moving from the era of Care-taker Committee to election era,” Obiekwe declared, emphasizing that traders will soon choose their leaders.

The government will ensure credible elections, considering each market’s constitution. “We need peace in the Market because peace brings progress,” he stressed.

Obiekwe who represented Governor Soludo at the event praised the Governor’s courage in abolishing Monday sit-at-home, citing the move as a testament to his commitment to traders’ progress and well-being.

Traders can now conduct their businesses freely, and the community is appreciative of God’s sustenance during challenging times.

The ASMATA-organized event marked a new chapter for Anambra’s markets, with Obiekwe urging all stakeholders to support the democratic process.

As the state government prepares for elections, traders are hopeful for a brighter future, where peace and progress thrive.
