The Anambra State Government has on Aug. 24 reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, skills development and national integration as the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 NYSC Cultural Carnival was held in Awka.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr Patrick Agha Mba, welcomed corps members to Anambra on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Agha Mba described the carnival as a celebration of Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity, unity and shared national identity, noting that the NYSC programme provides young Nigerians with opportunities to interact with and appreciate cultures from different parts of the country.

He urged corps members serving in Anambra to regard the state as their home throughout their service year, encouraging them to build meaningful relationships, acquire new skills and contribute positively to the communities where they are deployed.
The commissioner said the Soludo administration remained committed to empowering young people through various initiatives, including the 1Youth 2Skills Plus programme, which, according to him, has trained and empowered 13,300 youths.

He disclosed that about N5.5 billion had been committed to skills acquisition and grants under the programme, describing the investment as part of the government’s efforts to equip young people with the tools needed to become economically productive.
Agha Mba also highlighted the Solution Innovation District, noting that the state government was investing in digital skills, entrepreneurship and innovation to enable young people transform their ideas into viable enterprises and compete in the global economy.
He said the permanent site of the Solution Innovation District had been approved for commissioning in March 2027, describing the project as a key component of Anambra’s ambition to establish itself as a leading technology hub.
The commissioner assured corps members of the state government’s support for their welfare and urged them to embrace diversity, explore available opportunities and make positive contributions to their host communities as they participate in the nation-building process.
