In line with his administration’s commitment to women’s economic empowerment and inclusive development, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has sponsored members of the State Project Coordinating Unit (SPCU) of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU) to participate in a week-long training on the Community Operations Manual (COM) at Watercress Hotels, Lagos.
 

The intensive training, designed to strengthen grassroots implementation of the programme, focused on institutionalizing Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) and expanding economic opportunities for under-served and unbanked women across the state.
 
The programme implementation is facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, through NFWP-SU Federal Project Coordinating Unit (FPCU) and monitored by the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF)
 

Speaking during the training, the Head of the Federal Project Coordinating Unit, Dr. Hadiza Maina urged participants to maximize the opportunity provided by the programme. She encouraged them to pay close attention to the sessions and fully assimilate the knowledge being shared, noting that they would be responsible for cascading the training down to the Local Government and ward-level facilitators upon their return.
 

The six-day training targeted field officers from the three components of the project: Community Institution Building, Livelihood Collective Program, and Project Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning.
 
The modules of the training were designed to equip participants with the skills required to effectively mobilize women, strengthen community structures and improve programme implementation at the grassroots level.
 

Expressing their appreciation, the participants commended Governor Soludo for investing in their capacity development and the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills.
 
They pledged to apply the lessons learnt in institutionalizing and strengthening Women Affinity Groups and other existing women groups through promoting a culture of savings, financial inclusion and sustainable livelihood collective initiatives thereby  empowering more women across Anambra State.
 
The training marks another significant step towards advancing women’s economic empowerment and improving the livelihoods of under-served women in Anambra State
