There was excitement in Ubaha Village, Nnobi, as the outgoing Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi, alongside the Mayor-elect, Hon. Oluchukwu Ilogbenu, commissioned a modern solar-powered borehole to provide residents with improved access to clean and reliable water.
The project, located at Ubaha Village Hall, was described as more than just a water facility, but a practical intervention aimed at addressing one of the most essential needs of the community.
For residents of Ubaha and neighbouring communities, the solar-powered borehole was expected to ease the challenges associated with water scarcity and provide a more dependable source of water for domestic and other everyday needs.
Speaking on the significance of the project, on September 30, Mayor Amaka Obi said that access to clean and safe water remained fundamental to healthy living, proper sanitation and the general wellbeing of the people.
She noted that meaningful development should be measured by its impact on the daily lives of citizens, stressing that projects that respond directly to community needs create tangible benefits for the people.
The Mayor said that the project also reflected what could be achieved when government, community leaders and stakeholders worked together with a shared commitment to improving living conditions.
She expressed appreciation to the people of Ubaha and other stakeholders whose support and cooperation contributed to the successful completion of the project.
The commissioning further highlighted the administration’s focus on practical infrastructure and interventions capable of strengthening communities and improving the quality of life of residents.
As the project began serving the community, residents were expected to benefit from easier access to water, while the solar-powered system offered a sustainable means of powering the facility.
