Residents of Ogbunike community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State have expressed gratitude following the installation of solar-powered street lights facilitated by the member representing Oyi and Anyamelum Constituency, Mrs. Maureen Gwacham.
The project, which is currently ongoing in parts of the community, is aimed at improving visibility, enhancing security, and promoting social activities at night.
Speaking on the development, the Vice President II of Ogbunike Progressive Union, Hon. Obinna Oduche, thanked God and commended Mrs. Gwacham for what he described as a rare demonstration of the dividends of democracy. He noted that the intervention would have a lasting positive impact on the lives of residents.
Also reacting, Mrs. Gloria Agwuenu expressed excitement over the initiative, stating that the improved lighting would transform nightlife in the area. According to her, children would now be able to come out in the evenings to engage in moonlight play, as the environment would be safer and brighter.
In the same vein, Mrs. Ebere Okeke appreciated the lawmaker for her commitment to community development, describing the project as timely and beneficial to all.
The Youth Leader of the community, Mr. Dubem Oguelina, also lauded the effort of the representative, while offering prayers for her to continue delivering more developmental projects to the constituency.
Residents say the solar street light project is expected to boost security, reduce night-time accidents, and improve the overall quality of life in Ogbunike community.
