The Member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Aniekwe, has commended the development initiatives of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, describing the administration’s approach as people-centred and transformative.
Speaking during an interaction with journalists at his residence in Oroma etiti Anam, Anambra West Local Council Area, Hon. Aniekwe noted that the current development drive across the state reflects a clear commitment to inclusive growth, infrastructure renewal, and improved service delivery for communities in both urban and rural areas.
He said the governor’s policies are already yielding visible results in road rehabilitation, education support, and community-focused interventions.
While applauding the progress recorded, the lawmaker raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of the Onono–Umuikwu Anam Road, which he described as a major lifeline for residents of Anambra West Local Government Area.
“The road has become nearly impassable, worsening economic hardship, disrupting access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities, and compounding the challenges faced by riverine communities,” Aniekwe told reporters.
The lawmaker appealed to the Anambra State Government to urgently intervene by rehabilitating the Onono–Umuikwu Anam corridor to ease transportation, boost local commerce, and enhance security in the area.
He stressed that timely action on the road would complement the state’s broader development agenda and improve the quality of life for thousands of residents.
The federal lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the state government and relevant agencies to attract more development projects to Anambra East and West, noting that sustainable progress requires synergy between all tiers of government.
