‎The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) on August 4, commenced the reconstruction of Geneva Road, also known as Second Abakaliki Street, in Awka. The road is one of the city’s busiest corridors, serving as a major hub for hospitality, entertainment, and leisure activities.
‎
‎
‎The Managing Director of ACTDA, Dr. Ossy Onuko, stated that Geneva Road had remained in a deplorable condition for over eight years despite hosting numerous hotels, lounges, restaurants, and other thriving businesses that contribute significantly to the economic and social life of the state capital.
‎
‎

‎According to him, the reconstruction project is in fulfilment of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to providing quality infrastructure across Anambra State. He disclosed that the Governor approved the rehabilitation of the road and that construction work has commenced in earnest.
‎
‎

‎Dr. Onuko noted that upon completion, the project will improve vehicular and pedestrian movement, enhance commercial activities, and further strengthen Awka’s status as a modern, functional, and livable capital city.
‎
‎
‎With construction now in progress, business owners, residents, and motorists who have long endured the poor condition of the road can look forward to improved accessibility and a more conducive environment for economic and social activities.
