ANAMBRA POLICE HONOUR AIG IKIOYE ORUTUGU WITH PULL-OUT PARADE, BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION, STATE SEND-OFF

The Anambra State Police Command has concluded a series of activities in honour of the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Ikioye Orutugu, following his recent promotion and retirement from the Nigeria Police Force.

The events, which commenced on August 3, featured the celebration of AIG Orutugu’s birthday, a ceremonial Pull-Out Parade, and a State Executive Council send-forth ceremony organised by the Anambra State Government to recognise his meritorious service to the nation.
The birthday celebration served as an opportunity to appreciate God’s faithfulness throughout AIG Orutugu’s life and distinguished policing career. The occasion attracted heads of sister security agencies, government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders who offered prayers and goodwill messages, wishing him good health, peace, and greater accomplishments in his future endeavours.

On August 4, the Anambra State Government hosted the retired senior police officer at a State Executive Council send-forth ceremony in recognition of his outstanding contributions to security, peace, and public safety in the state. The government commended his collaborative approach to policing, strategic engagement with stakeholders, and unwavering commitment to combating crime while strengthening public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, alongside other senior government officials, described AIG Orutugu as an exceptional police officer whose tenure in the state was characterised by strengthened police-community relations, improved inter-agency collaboration, strategic security partnerships, and remarkable operational successes in the fight against crime and criminality.

The activities culminated in a colourful ceremonial Pull-Out Parade held at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters, Awka, where serving and retired police officers, family members, traditional rulers, government officials, friends, and other distinguished guests gathered to celebrate AIG Orutugu’s remarkable career and selfless service.
Conducted in accordance with the long-standing traditions of the Nigeria Police Force, the Pull-Out Parade formally marked the conclusion of AIG Orutugu’s distinguished career after decades of dedicated service to the nation. The ceremony featured the inspection of the parade, ceremonial procession, the presentation of policing honours, and goodwill messages from colleagues and stakeholders who praised his professionalism, exemplary leadership, operational excellence, and people-centred policing philosophy.
The police command expressed profound appreciation to the Anambra State Government, the people of the state, sister security agencies, traditional institutions, religious leaders, community leaders, and other stakeholders for their unwavering support throughout AIG Orutugu’s tenure as Commissioner of Police.
The command also congratulated AIG Orutugu on his birthday and retirement, wishing him excellent health, a fulfilling retirement, and continued success in the next phase of his life. It further reassured residents of Anambra State of its unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining the security gains achieved during his leadership.
