The wife of a Methodist priest, Mrs Onyedikachi Ogwo, has on Oct. 3, urged women to accord their husbands the respect, love and care they deserve, stressing the importance of maintaining healthy and peaceful homes. Ogwo made the call during the quarterly meeting of Obosi Circuit held at St. John’s Methodist Church, Odume, Obosi.
She said information she received through her husband had made her realise that some women tend to show greater respect and attention to their ministers, reverends and pastors than they give their husbands at home.

According to her, while it is good for women to love, respect and care for their ministers or pastors, such devotion should not be at the expense of their responsibilities and affection towards their husbands.
Ogwo reminded women of the biblical responsibility of respecting their husbands, stressing that love for God should also be reflected in the way they treat those closest to them.
She expressed concern that some women could spend their money preparing delicious meals for their ministers while neglecting their husbands at home, sometimes arguing that their husbands had not provided money for feeding.
She therefore appealed to women, in the name of God, to value, care for and show affection to their husbands, saying that such gestures could contribute to stronger families and help reduce the incidence of premature deaths among men.
Ogwo further observed that men, regardless of their financial circumstances, value respect, care and affection from their wives, adding that these qualities could strengthen love and unity in marriage.
She urged women to embrace greater humility and encourage mutual love and respect in their marriages, in line with biblical teachings, saying this would contribute to reducing the rising rate of divorce in society.
