The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its operations against criminal elements following a successful raid on a notorious black spot in Eze-Allah, Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Unit, Enugwu-Ukwu, acting on credible intelligence, executed the operation on the evening of April 16, 2026. The raid led to the arrest of eight suspects allegedly involved in cult-related activities, alongside the recovery of various quantities of suspected Cannabis Sativa and other illicit substances.
According to the statement, the suspects were all male, and identified as: Chidalu Nwafor, 27; Chiemerie Nwazueje, 24; Chima Arwuike, 25; Jideobi Emeka, 26; Oliver Okonkwo, 18; Izuchukwu Christian, 18; Onyebuchi, 21; and Walter Idouzour, 44.
The Command observed that the prevalence of illicit drugs constitutes a significant driver of crime, particularly among youth groups engaged in cultism. This highlights the imperative for sustained law enforcement operations and enhanced community collaboration to combat drug abuse and associated offences.
The suspects are currently undergoing profiling and investigation, and will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the process.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining ongoing operations to dislodge criminal elements across the State and to guarantee the safety and security of all residents of Anambra.
