Rev. Father Emmanuel Nwakaasi of St. John Catholic Church, Umuokpu-Awka, reflected on Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, urging Catholics to stand with Christ through all times.
Speaking during Palm Sunday Mass, Father Nwakaasi emphasized the need for spiritual preparedness, encouraging the faithful to embrace God, sacrifice with Christ, and live faithfully through love and obedience, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

He highlighted the spiritual power of almsgiving, warning against selfish motives and advising generous giving. “One reaps what one sows,” he said, encouraging congregants to make kindness a habit, especially to the poor and vulnerable.
“God sees your efforts and rewards accordingly,” Father Nwakaasi said, cautioning against cheating the poor or giving without love. True giving, he emphasized, is motivated by love and a desire to serve.
The priest’s message was a call to spiritual readiness, urging reflection on life and preparation for death, and cultivating selflessness and generosity.
