UNICEF, in collaboration with the Federal and Anambra State Governments, has alerted Nigerians, especially Local Government workers, about the risks of radiation from daily-used tech gadgets.
Speaking at a sensitization program in Awka South, Dr. Uche Nwakor, a technologist, emphasized using anti-radiation measures like phone cases or neck pieces to reduce exposure. He warned against keeping phones in breast pockets or trousers, citing risks to heart health and reproductive systems.

Dr. Nwakor advised against using microwave ovens, which can cause breast cancer, and limiting X-rays to twice a year. He also recommended using laptops on desks, not laps, and cautioned those living near telecom masts to protect themselves.
Earpieces and earpods were also flagged as radiation risks, potentially causing brain damage. Dr. Nwakor urged workers to use anti-radiation protection.
