The headquarters of Dunukofia Local Government Area(LGA) in Ukpo, Anambra State, has taken on a fresh and attractive appearance following extensive maintenance and environmental improvement efforts initiated by the Mayor, Barr. Chijioke C. Ozumba.
As part of the renovation, the buildings within the LGA headquarters, including their iron railings and gates, were repainted in vibrant colours, giving the entire secretariat a bright and appealing outlook.
Under the morning sun, the structures now gleam beautifully, creating a more welcoming environment for both workers and visitors.
In addition, offices within the secretariat have been thoroughly cleaned and reorganized, leaving them neat, conducive, and comfortable for staff.
The improved working environment is expected to enhance productivity among employees of the local government.
The ongoing environmental sanitation exercise also includes mowing overgrown grasses around the premises, which had previously given the area an untidy appearance.
Fumigation is equally being carried out to keep away snakes and other harmful reptiles.
Barr. Ozumba, who is widely admired for his passion for cleanliness and development, is fondly known as “Oluatuegwu 2” because of what many describe as his remarkable achievements and dedication to service.
Speaking with the information officer, a civil servant at the secretariat, Chinasa Sandra, praised the mayor for transforming the LGA headquarters.
“Our secretariat has taken a new and beautiful look because our Mayor dislikes a dirty environment.
“He is hardworking, and we call him ‘Oluatuegwu 2’ because of the many impactful projects he has executed for the people.
“We now enjoy a steady electricity supply at the secretariat because he purchased additional solar panels.
“He also repaired all the toilet facilities, making them functional again,” Sandra said.
Another staff member, Obinna Okoye, also commended the mayor’s efforts, describing the ongoing maintenance work as a great project.
“Our mayor loves cleanliness, and beautiful surroundings that create a pleasant atmosphere.
“Beyond that, Barr. Chijioke Ozumba is hardworking, focused, and committed to development.” he said.
