Over the years, the residents of Owelleaja Community in Obosi, Idemili North LGA of Anambra State has experienced flooding and displacement due to poor drainage system in the area.
Recently, the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo awarded the construction of the major drainage system in Owelleaja to Infrastructure Development Company (IDC) Construction Company.
The Administrative Foreman of IDC Construction Company Mr Edwin Udi in an interactive forum with Information officer said that the drainage project is almost 90 per cent completion.

According to Mr Udi, the project was challenging due to the topography of the area. He said, “People thought we would abandon the project like others”, but he expressed gratitude for its near completion.
A Patron of Owelleaja Landlords Association, Mr Augustine Okafor said that the Community is praising Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s initiative, thanking the state government for the timely intervention.

Mr Okafor further expressed his joy saying,”For years, flooding has plagued Owelleaja, causing destruction and displacement but today, we have a standard drainage system, Kudos to Governor Soludo”.
Owelleaja residents as a whole are celebrating the project’ near completion, hailing it as a visible evidence to the governor’s developmental strides.
