The outgoing Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Emeka Orji, on October 3, expressed profound gratitude to the people of the council area for their support, prayers, cooperation and encouragement throughout his tenure.
Orji, in a farewell message to the people of Onitsha South, described his tenure as one of the greatest opportunities and honours of his life, noting that the trust and support of the people gave him the strength to work for the peace, development and progress of the local government.
He particularly appreciated traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, market leaders, youth and women groups, workers, artisans, traders, transporters and other residents for their contributions to the administration.
According to him, the achievements recorded during his tenure were not his alone, but collective accomplishments made possible through the support and cooperation of Ndi Onitsha South.
The outgoing Mayor also acknowledged the corrections and constructive criticisms he received while in office, saying they helped strengthen his administration and provided valuable lessons in leadership.
He further appealed for forgiveness from anyone who may have felt hurt or dissatisfied with his actions or decisions during his tenure, stressing that leadership comes with enormous responsibility and challenges.
As he handed over the mantle of leadership, Orji said that he left office with a heart full of gratitude and fond memories of his time in service, assuring the people that although the office may change hands, his love for Ndi Onitsha South would remain.
He prayed for continued peace, unity and development in Onitsha South, asking God to bless families, protect communities and prosper the works of the people.
Orji thanked the people once again for believing in him, standing by his administration and giving him the privilege to serve, as he formally bows out as Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government.
