Onitsha South Mayor, Hon. Chief Emeka Orji, and the aspirant for Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Chris Onyekachukwu Nwokedi, on August 12, charged youths to be purpose-driven, innovative and committed to building a better society.

In separate messages to mark International Youth Day, the two leaders described youths as critical stakeholders and the driving force behind the future of every community and nation.

They urged young people to discover their purpose, develop their talents, acquire relevant skills and remain focused despite the challenges confronting them.

They also encouraged youths to shun violence, crime, drug abuse and other negative influences, while embracing education, entrepreneurship, leadership and meaningful community participation.

According to them, youthfulness is not merely an age bracket but a season of opportunity, creativity and responsibility. They called on government, families and other stakeholders to continue creating platforms that empower young people to thrive.

They further urged youths to believe in themselves, make responsible choices and become positive agents of change wherever they found themselves.
“A purposeful youth today is a responsible leader tomorrow,” They said.
