The Executive Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Emeka Orji, has restated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth during an on-site inspection of the ongoing Bida/Creek Road project.
The Mayor, who recently returned from an official trip, resumed duties promptly to assess the quality and progress of construction, emphasising strict adherence to standards.
Speaking at the site, Orji expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and noted that an efficient drainage system would be incorporated to ensure durability and mitigate flooding. “This project is about creating sustainable infrastructure that will endure and meet the economic needs of our people”.
Upon completion, the road is expected to provide direct access to Onitsha Main Market, improving mobility for traders, transporters, and customers while boosting commercial activities in the area. Residents and business owners welcomed the initiative, stating that it will alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the movement of goods.
The project forms part of the Orji administration’s broader strategy to transform Onitsha South into a vibrant commercial hub through targeted infrastructure investments.
