Newly sworn in councillors of Onitsha North Local Government Area have pledged to work with the Mayor, Hon. Emelie Ibekwe, to advance development and ensure effective representation across their wards.
The councillors made the pledge in interviews with Information Officers of Onitsha North shortly after taking their oaths of office alongside 14 other newly elected councillors.

Councillor representing Ward 10, Hon. Okpalaugo Chijoke Michael, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and described Ibekwe as a vibrant leader.
“We are ready and willing to work together with him to push Onitsha North forward,” Chijoke said.

He urged his colleagues to cooperate with the mayor in the interest of the council’s development and wished them a successful tenure.
Also speaking, the Ward 9 Councillor, Hon. Oluchi Hadiza Adams, described the inauguration as a significant occasion and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.
Adams, one of the Deputy Majority Leaders in the legislative council, said her responsibilities included supporting the Majority Leader, moving motions that would benefit the wards and speaking on behalf of fellow councillors.
She pledged to work diligently to improve Onitsha North, ensure effective representation of Ward 9 and contribute to the development of the council.
