The Mayor of Onitsha North Local Government Area, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, has expressed deep sympathy following the tragic clash between officers of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA Brigade) and traders at Onitsha Main Market, which claimed the life of a female trader and left four others injured.
Mayor Nwora, who paid a visit to the victims receiving treatment in a private hospital in Onitsha on Wednesday 10th September extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, praying for the repose of her soul and comfort for her loved ones.

He also commended Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for promptly visiting the injured traders and holding a closed-door meeting with the bereaved family, describing the governor’s intervention as a reassuring step.
While condemning attempts by opposition politicians to politicize the incident, the Mayor described such moves as “petty politics that add no value to the traders,” insisting that justice will be served.
Nwora assured residents that security agencies will conduct a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice. He further appealed to traders to remain calm and continue their business activities, assuring them of the government’s commitment to their safety.
