The Youth Wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Anambra North, has on Oct. 4 congratulated the newly sworn-in Local Government Mayors across the zone, urging them to make grassroots development and the welfare of the people priorities of their administrations.
The Youth Leader of the organisation, Mazi Ifeanyi Kwentoh, gave the charge in a congratulatory message to the newly inaugurated mayors, describing their emergence as an opportunity to strengthen grassroots governance and deliver meaningful development to their respective communities.
Kwentoh urged the mayors to uphold integrity, accountability, humility and inclusive leadership, stressing that their positions come with the responsibility to serve the people and advance the development of their Local Government Areas.
He particularly called on them to prioritise youth empowerment, employment creation, education, healthcare, infrastructure, security and grassroots economic development.
According to him, effective leadership at the local government level is critical to improving the living conditions of citizens and ensuring that government policies and programmes have a direct impact on the people.
“Leadership is a responsibility entrusted to you by the people. We encourage you to lead with humility, listen to your people and leave a positive legacy in your respective Local Government Areas,” he said.
The Ohanaeze youth leader wished the newly sworn-in mayors wisdom, courage and divine guidance as they begin their respective tenures, while urging them to work closely with relevant stakeholders.
Kwentoh also called for unity and cooperation among the new council leaders, saying that collective efforts would be necessary to accelerate grassroots development and contribute to the overall progress of Anambra State.
