The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, has assured women leaders from Anambra West Local Government Area of his commitment to inclusive governance and recognition of women’s contributions to political and community development.
Ogugua gave the assurance on Nov. 4, when a delegation of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) women leaders from the area, led by Mrs. Nneka Nwaigwe, paid him a courtesy visit at his office at the State Secretariat Complex, Awka.
Speaking during the visit, Nwaigwe congratulated the commissioner on his appointment and called for greater recognition of women in political activities and decision making.
She noted that women had continued to play significant roles in the political development of the state, urging the government to give greater attention to their contributions and grassroots participation.
In his response, Ogugua thanked the delegation for the visit and acknowledged the importance of women’s participation in governance, assuring them that their contributions would not be relegated to the background.
He said the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo remained committed to inclusive governance, citing road construction, healthcare facilities and other development projects in Anambra West as evidence of efforts to extend government interventions to all communities.
The commissioner stressed that geographical location should not prevent any community from benefiting from government projects, particularly those in hard to reach areas requiring deliberate government attention.
He assured the women of his accessibility and encouraged them to sustain their grassroots engagement and commitment to community development.
The delegation expressed appreciation to the commissioner for the reception.
