The Immediate Outgone President General, Akpo Development Association(ADA) Nze Henry C. Dim has poured encomiums on Agbelu Improvement Union (AIU) for checking flood in line with the Anambra State Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s declaration of emergency on ecology.
He said this in an interactions with news men shortly after inspecting the concluded project at Ugwu Ogbei, Akpo, in Aguata Local Government Area, on November 4.
“When I was in power while this project was going on in 2023/2024, I felt happy with AIU for embarking on the project. I then wondered where they will get financial muscle, to finish the project. I did the best I could to approach Anambra State Government for assistance through the Ministry of works”, he said.
He added that even when nothing much came from his efforts to getting assistance, AIU delivered the project. He commended Ndi Agbelu Akpo.
“Anambra State is already overwhelmed with over 1000 erosion sites. Houses have been swallowed, a lot of farmlands, economic trees have gone, many more are being threatened.
“If Improvement Unions of Anambra State do not emulate Ndi Agbelu to fixing flood menace in their communities, we shall have ourselves to blame in the near future. Gov Soludo is doing his best in this regard, little wonder he declared state of emergency on ecology. If we wait for government to do it all, we shall be object of bad news stories”, Dim said.
Nze Dim enjoined Ndi Anambra to put Anambra State interest above their personal interest irrespective of political party divides and personal ambition.
