Residents of Ogbunike Community on July 4, joined other communities across Anambra State in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise initiated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo to promote a cleaner, safer and healthier environment.
Speaking during the exercise, the Vice President-General of Ogbunike Community, Hon. Oduche Obilaw, commended the governor for sustaining the sanitation programme, describing it as a timely initiative that encouraged residents to clean their surroundings.

Obilaw said the exercise also provided an opportunity for residents to trim tree branches obstructing electricity poles and power lines, thereby enhancing public safety and reducing disruptions to electricity supply.
Also speaking, the Youth Leader of Ifite, Mr. Dubem Oguelina, expressed satisfaction with the initiative, noting that youths and non indigenes residing in the community turned out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.

According to him, the impressive turnout reflected the community’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and collective responsibility.
In his remarks, Mr. Chike Emigo also lauded the initiative, describing it as a commendable step toward promoting a healthier and cleaner environment across the state.
The exercise featured the clearing of drainage channels, evacuation of refuse and sanitation of public spaces in support of the state’s environmental sustainability efforts.
