‎Workers of Ogbaru Local Government Area have commended the Executive Mayor, Hon. Kenneth Akwuobi, for the extensive reconstruction and rehabilitation of the council secretariat, which suffered severe damage during an attack about three years ago. The commendation was conveyed on June 10, during an interactive session between the council staff and journalists at the secretariat complex.
‎
‎Speaking on behalf of the workforce, Comrade Chinyere Okafor of the Works Department said that the ongoing transformation had rekindled staff morale and restored a sense of pride and dignity to service delivery at the council. She noted that the new facilities reflect purposeful leadership and the administration’s commitment to creating a conducive working environment.
‎
‎The workers observed that prior to the commencement of the reconstruction programme, the secretariat had remained largely dilapidated, with several key structures, including the traditional rulers’ palace, the environmental block, and the main administrative building, left in ruins following the attack.
‎
‎Since assuming office on September 17, 2025, Hon. Akwuobi has initiated a comprehensive rebuilding programme. The project has led to the complete reconstruction and furnishing of the legislative block, the traditional rulers’ palace, and the environmental block. Construction of a modern two-storey administrative complex, designed to replace the previously destroyed one-storey structure, is currently at approximately 80 percent completion.
‎
‎Mr. Emmanuel Nwankwo of the Personnel Department remarked that the revitalized complex has regained vibrancy, while Mrs. Ifeoma Ezeife, Head of the Health Department, described the development as a renewed source of hope for staff and residents.
‎
‎Workers expressed optimism that the newly renovated Ogbaru Secretariat reflects the Akwuobi administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and good governance. They also called on traditional rulers, as well as sons and daughters of Ogbaru and other residents, to support the initiatives in order to ensure the timely completion of the projects.
