‎The President General of Obosi Development Union, Barr. Chimezie Obi, has denied a BBC Igbo report claiming that Mr. Fabulous, the alleged mastermind behind the abduction of Dr. Edwin Emegoakor, was arrested in Obosi, Anambra State.
‎
‎Speaking to journalists at Obosi on May 12, 2026, Obi said the suspect was arrested at his residence in Abommili Estate, Mgbachu, Nkpor, not Obosi and dismissed claims that Fabulous’ house in Obosi was destroyed by youths.
‎
‎In his words, “The story is not true. Mr. Fabulous was arrested in his house at Abommili Estate, Mgbachu Nkpor”.
‎

He urged journalists, including major outlets like BBC, to verify facts before publication to avoid damaging the reputation of individuals and communities.
‎
‎Recall, Dr. Emegoakor, Chief Medical Director of Crown Hospital, Nkpor, was abducted on May 7, 2026, by kidnappers led by Fabulous, a motor spare parts dealer at Mgbuka Market, Obosi. He was later rescued by security operatives at Fabulous’ house in Nkpor, where the suspect was arrested and his house destroyed by irate youths.
