‎Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe (NOCEN), Anambra State, has successfully hosted 1,180 candidates for the 2026 Professional Qualifying Examination Integrated (PQEI) of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). The examination, held on October 8, was conducted through a Computer-Based Test (CBT) at the college’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre.
‎
‎The exercise was conducted smoothly, with candidates arriving early for accreditation and the examination. Its success was attributed to adequate preparation, technical support and effective collaboration among TRCN officials, the college’s TRCN team and ICT personnel.
‎
‎The NOCEN TRCN Coordinator, Dr. Nchedo P. Okeke, coordinated the college’s preparations, ensuring that the necessary arrangements were in place for an orderly and hitch-free exercise.
‎
‎Technical and supervisory support was provided by the TRCN technical team from Abuja, comprising Edache Okoliko and Folarin J. Meleta, alongside the Awka team led by the State Coordinator, Dr. Iwuje Ngozi Frances. Other members of the Awka team included Nkiru Akegbu, Michael Anoliefo, Patrick Ugwu and Kingsley Onyije.
‎
‎Their collaboration with the college’s ICT personnel contributed to the efficient conduct of the examination in line with established professional standards.
‎
‎Speaking after the exercise, Dr. Okeke attributed its smooth conduct to the punctuality of candidates, proper accreditation, strict adherence to examination guidelines and effective coordination among the participating teams.
‎
‎The successful hosting of 1,180 candidates demonstrates NOCEN’s capacity to accommodate large-scale professional examinations and highlights the importance of functional ICT infrastructure in modern educational assessment.
‎
‎The exercise also underscores the college’s commitment to technological advancement, institutional efficiency and the promotion of professionalism in teaching. The TRCN Professional Qualifying Examination remains an important component of efforts to assess teachers’ competence and strengthen professional standards in Nigeria’s education sector.
‎
‎Through the successful conduct of the examination, NOCEN has reaffirmed its role in supporting teacher development and preparing competent, professionally qualified educators to contribute to the growth and transformation of the nation’s education system.
