The Anambra State Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr. Casmir Chinenye Agummadu, has urged staff of the ministry to improve punctuality, attendance and dedication to their duties.
Agummadu made the call during a meeting with the ministry’s management staff on Oct. 8, to review its activities and address challenges affecting service delivery.
He expressed concern over poor staff attendance, saying some workers often left the office before the official closing time, leaving few personnel available to handle official assignments.

He warned that the practice could affect the ministry’s ability to respond promptly to emergencies and deploy personnel when urgent needs arose.
The commissioner urged staff to maintain discipline and take their responsibilities seriously, stressing that punctuality and commitment were necessary for effective public service.
He also called for continued recognition of retired staff, noting that their contributions to the ministry should be acknowledged beyond their years in active service.
Agummadu said recognising retirees would help them feel valued and appreciated for their years of service.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Victor Ezekwo, said management had been addressing lateness, absenteeism and other forms of indiscipline among staff.
Ezekwo said measures, including queries and salary stoppages where warranted and in accordance with applicable procedures, had been adopted to address staff misconduct.
On the recognition of retired personnel, he said the ministry had maintained the practice, particularly during its annual end of year gathering, where retirees were appreciated for their contributions.
