The Nnewi North Decongestion Unit has intensified efforts to improve traffic management with the installation of new road signs at strategic junctions across the Local Government Area, aimed at curbing traffic violations, enhancing road safety.
The exercise, carried out on June 30, focused on locations prone to one-way traffic violations, including Nwanyi Imo Junction, CPS Junction and Uru Junction.

Speaking during the installation, the Unit Commander, Comrade Kizito, said the initiative forms part of the unit’s ongoing campaign to promote traffic discipline, reduce road accidents and restore order on roads within Nnewi North.
He urged motorists, tricycle operators and commercial motorcycle riders to obey the newly installed traffic signs, stressing that compliance is essential to ensuring the safety of all road users.

“These signs are for your safety and to ensure orderliness on our roads. I urge all motorists, tricycle operators and motorcycle riders to obey them at all times. Our officers are fully deployed and will enforce compliance without fear or favour,” he said.
Comrade Kizito disclosed that officers of the decongestion unit have been strategically deployed to monitor compliance and enforce traffic regulations at the affected locations and other critical areas within the local government.

He reaffirmed the unit’s commitment to maintaining free-flowing traffic, reducing congestion and creating a safer, more orderly road network for residents, commuters and visitors to Nnewi North.
Residents and road users were encouraged to cooperate with traffic officers and comply with all traffic regulations to support the government’s efforts at improving road safety and public order.
