The State Hospital Administrator, Dr. Frank Ifeanaeme, has directed the management and staff of General Hospital, Nawgu, to intensify community sensitization and increase patient turnout at the facility.
Dr. Ifeanaeme issued the directive during an inspection visit to the hospital, where he stated that the recent deployment of additional personnel leaves no justification for underperformance.
According to him, the hospital’s workforce has been strengthened with a National Youth Service Corps doctor, a medical doctor, and three nurses. “With the personnel now available, there is no justification for poor service delivery or low patient patronage. Government has fulfilled its obligation. We must now commit our best efforts to saving the lives of our people,” he said.
The Hospital Administrator tasked the staff to launch aggressive public awareness campaigns in churches, markets, women’s meetings, and other community forums to ensure residents fully access available healthcare services.
He observed that although many communities across the state have benefited from the government’s free maternal healthcare programme, the Nawgu community has yet to fully take advantage of the initiative.
The inspection is part of ongoing efforts by the state government to strengthen efficiency, accountability, and service delivery across public health institutions.
