A frontline aspirant for the Idemili North Constituency seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Chief Sir Emmanuel Arinzechukwu Idemili (Emma Golden), has officially declared his intention to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance after obtaining the party’s Expression of Interest.
The development signals his formal entry into the race ahead of the party’s primaries slated for May 23, 2026, setting the stage for what observers describe as a keenly contested ticket in one of Anambra’s politically active constituencies.
After picking the form, Chief Idemili described his aspiration as “a covenant with the people,” promising purposeful and people-oriented representation if elected.
“This is not just about me; it is about the future of Idemili North. I am stepping forward with a clear vision rooted in education, healthcare, youth development, and economic empowerment,” he said.
He called on party faithful and supporters across the 12 wards of Idemili North to remain united and focused as the primaries approach.
“Unity is our greatest strength. I urge all APGA members to rally behind a shared vision that prioritizes development over personal ambition. Together, we can deliver measurable progress to our people,” He said
Meanwhile, the Emma Golden Mobilization Team reaffirmed that the campaign would be anchored on competence, compassion, and character, in line with APGA’s philosophy of Onye Aghana Nwanne Ya” (be our brothers keeper).
A party stakeholder in Idemili North, Hon. Ikechukwu Eze, expressed optimism about the aspirant’s chances:
“Chief Idemili has grassroots appeal and a clear message. If the process is transparent, he stands a strong chance at the primaries,” the stakeholder said.
APGA acting woman leader Mrs Uju Omile welcomed the development, urging candidates to focus on real issues affecting residents.
“We want better roads, support for small businesses, and security. Anyone who can deliver these has our support,” she noted.
With the race now gathering momentum, political watchers say the coming weeks will be critical as aspirants intensify consultations and mobilization efforts ahead of the decisive primaries.
Chief Idemili’s entry adds to the growing list of contenders seeking to secure APGA’s ticket and represent Idemili North at the state legislature.
As the countdown begins, all eyes remain on the party’s internal process and the emerging dynamics that will shape the constituency’s political future.
