The Headmistress of Uruoji Primary School, Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area, Mrs. Calorine Nwokocha, has called for greater commitment to the protection, education and overall welfare of children.
Speaking in an interview in Nawfia on June 16, Mrs. Nwokocha commended the administration of Chukwuma Soludo for its ongoing efforts to improve the education sector in Anambra State. She noted that investments in school infrastructure, enhanced learning facilities and expanded access to quality education have significantly benefited pupils across the state.
The headmistress described education as a vital foundation for both personal growth and societal progress, urging parents and guardians to complement government initiatives by providing proper care, guidance and protection for their children.
She expressed concern over the persistent challenge of child abuse, stressing that tackling the problem requires the collective involvement of families, communities and other stakeholders. According to her, caregivers must remain vigilant and proactive in safeguarding the wellbeing of children.
Mrs. Nwokocha emphasized that every child deserves access to love, protection, quality education and the opportunity to realize their full potential. She urged parents and guardians to work together to eliminate all forms of abuse, neglect and exploitation affecting children.
She made the remarks ahead of the observance of the International Day of the African Child, which is dedicated to promoting the rights, education and welfare of African children while celebrating their resilience and potential.
