‎The Borehole Drillers Association, Anambra State Chapter, has sought a stronger partnership with the Anambra State Urban Water Assets Holding Corporation (ASUWAHC) as part of efforts to promote innovation, improve professional standards, and strengthen practices within the state’s water sector.
‎
‎The call was made during a courtesy visit to the Corporation on June 15, by the Association’s Coordinator, Mr. Patrick Effiong, and Treasurer, Mr. Chukwuekezie Amaechi. Discussions during the engagement centred on possible areas of collaboration, particularly the utilization of ASUWAHC’s laboratory facilities for the analysis of water samples obtained from boreholes across the state.
‎
‎During the visit, the delegation sought clarification on the possibility of engaging the Corporation’s laboratory services for water quality testing. Responding, the Officer-in-Charge of the laboratory services, Mrs. Emmanuella Okafor, explained that water quality assessment carried out by the agency follows established technical guidelines and regulatory standards.
‎
‎She noted that effective water quality evaluation involves more than routine laboratory testing, as it may require preliminary assessments such as geographical studies, hydrological investigations, and other scientific evaluations necessary for accurate analysis of water resources.
‎
‎Mrs. Okafor further explained that the laboratory is equipped with four major sections responsible for analysing various parameters, including physical and biological characteristics, alongside other specialized components. She added that the facility operates with standardized reporting procedures to ensure accurate documentation, interpretation, and presentation of test results.
‎
‎Speaking on sample submission procedures, she emphasized the importance of proper handling and preservation of water samples, noting that samples must be stored in sealed containers and maintained under appropriate conditions to protect their integrity before analysis.
‎
‎Both parties expressed their commitment to fostering a productive partnership aimed at improving water quality monitoring, promoting compliance with professional standards among borehole operators, and supporting sustainable development of water resources in Anambra State.
