The Catholic Diocese of Ekwulobia gave a befitting burial to one of its illustrious Priests and one time Director of Fides Communications Awka Catholic Diocese, Very Reverend Monsignor Dr. Jerome Ndubuisi Madueke aged 69, a native of Oraeri in Anambra State.
The burial took place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Cathedral, Ekwulobia while his funeral took place at his home town Oraeri.
Following a Requiem Mass at his home parish St.Mary’s Catholic Church Oraeri, the Parish Priest Rev.Father Dr. Peter Nwankwo, described the departed priest as a brother, father and a holy priest who started his priestly career in Oraeri and ended it in Oraeri.
Fr. Nwankwo narrated Monsignor Madueke’s mysterious visit to him at his parish with unexplained signs on July 28 only to be told of his demise on the July 29.
According to the cleric, the life of Monsignor Madueke deserves to be celebrated as a humble priest who lived a life of poverty and holiness.
On his part, a former Head of Local Government Administration for Onitsha North LGA, Engr. Dr. Aloysius Ezeabasili described the late Monsignor as a holy man who lived a fulfilled life.
According to Engr. Ezeabasili, Monsignor Madueke was his school mate at the All Hallows Seminary Onitsha.
Monsignor Madueke was ordained priest of the Awka Diocese on July 2, 1983.
