The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Uzoka, has spearheaded a comprehensive environmental sanitation exercise at the ministry’s headquarters, emphasizing the importance of hygiene, sustainability, and collective responsibility among staff.
The initiative involved directors, departmental heads, and staff in a thorough clean-up effort, focusing on debris removal, proper waste disposal, and restoration of order in offices and surrounding areas.

In her address, Mrs. Uzoka stressed that a clean environment is essential for optimal productivity and effective public service. She advocated for maintaining cleanliness as an ongoing institutional practice, rather than a one-time event. “A well-maintained workspace reflects discipline, dedication, and respect for public duty. All staff must take ownership of their environment to sustain a pleasant working atmosphere,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary also encouraged the adoption of eco-friendly practices, such as waste segregation and regular sanitation, to promote long-term sustainability.

Participants praised the initiative as timely and impactful, noting improvements in the ministry’s appearance, staff morale, and teamwork. The exercise is set to be repeated periodically, with the ministry committed to fostering a culture of sanitation and environmental stewardship.
